Hike Description :
Two side-by-side Bruce Trail Side Trails just east of Owen Sound. Warm-up hike on 1.8 km Pines Loop passing an old barn foundation, then 3.2 km Clearview Loop through a pretty gorge of mixed deciduous forest and along a creek; hike includes a visit to the Polish Soldier Tree on the main Bruce Trail.
Hike Leader: Stewart Brown
When: Thursday May 12, 2022. Hike departs 10 a.m.
Meet and Park: 8th Concession North, former Sydenham Township, 0.8 km north of Hwy 26
Directions: Hwy 26 from Owen Sound, drive in the direction of Meaford but only go 2.7 km east of Van Dolder's Custom Exteriors to the top of the first big hill and turn left (north) on 8th Concession North. Drive 0.8 km on 8th Concession, stopping before the first curve. Turn around for roadside parking on the west side of the road.

Difficulty: Pines Loop is easy, level, even terrain. Clearview Loop is moderate difficulty with slopes, some rocks and roots, possibly mud. Poles could be helpful.
If some hikers prefer, an option is to repeat the Pines Loop instead of proceeding to the slightly more difficult Clearview Loop.
